Alex Lowry spotted training with Leeds United captain Liam Cooper in Rangers World Cup break

Alex Lowry has been spotted training with Leeds United captain Liam Cooper during the World Cup break as he looks to break into the first-team plans at Rangers.

The 19-year-old has struggled with injury problems in the first part of the 2022/23 season but is now looking to become a mainstay for the Gers.

Cooper posted a picture on his Instagram (23 November) of the pair training together in Dubai ahead of the domestic campaign restarting after the World Cup.

Destined for big things

Lowry clearly has the mentality to go to the very top and he understands that he has to learn from professionals such as Cooper if he wishes to make it to the very top. He has always impressed when given the chance and should be a constant in the Gers’ first-team plans.

With a new manager coming into Ibrox, it could be the perfect opportunity for Lowry to stake a claim. Giovanni van Bronckhorst clearly preferred to put his trust in older players during his time at Ibrox. However, with Tom Lawrence still out injured, there’s a place in this team for Lowry.

He’s someone who can unlock a defence from midfield and that is something which has been desperately missed by Rangers in the 2022/23 season. When the Gers kickstart their season against Hibernian on 15 December Lowry will be looking to hit the ground running.

The next couple of months could well be huge for the youngster’s development at Ibrox.
