Darren Ambrose: Djed Spence a snip at £20m for Tottenham Hotspur

Darren Ambrose believes that Tottenham Hotspur are signing a quality young player in Djed Spece for the reported price of £20million.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are set to finalise the signing of the 21-year-old for an initial fee of £12.5million which leads to the aforementioned amount, including add-ons.

The England under-21 full-back is now having a medical before he’ll join the team’s pre-season preparations.

On talkSPORT, Ambrose said of this move, “If there’s any manager that can handle him, I think it’s Antonio Conte.

“I also think that sometimes the penny drops on a player. I think it’s an outstanding signing.

“I hope he does well. Right-back, right wing-back is somewhere that Spurs needed and I’m hoping that he is the man.

“If he becomes the man that we think he will be, £20million which is what they’ll have to pay is a snip in today’s market so I’m looking forward to seeing him.”

Spurs have done some solid business in the transfer window this summer.

Many were surprised that they signed Yves Bissouma for the price they did but they are now set to get another bargain in Spence.

The Englishman had a great Championship season and played a big role in getting Nottingham Forest promoted.

It was clear after looking at him that he was clearly ready to play in the Premier League and Spurs are now giving him his wish.

Whether or not he starts immediately, remains to be seen, but we believe that he’s good enough to play ahead of Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal.

One of the two full-backs mentioned above must also be shown the door and Spence must be given the tools to express himself as he’s an unbelievable talent who’ll only get better under Conte.

In other Spurs news, an 18-year-old has now penned a new Tottenham Hotspur deal.
