Frank Lampard: Anthony Gordon not upset with reported contract terms at Everton
Anthony Gordon is reportedly not unhappy at Everton as he’s in contract extension talks to further his stay at Goodison Park.
According to the Daily Mail journalist Dominic King, reports of the Englishman not being happy with the reported £100k/week terms as part of his new deal are absolutely not true.
Frank Lampard has also come out to defend his player and has said that he’s not seen anything to suggest that the 21-year-old is unhappy at the club.
“I think that’s private, and I think unfortunately the headline is the numbers people talk about and obviously that should stay private.
“Generally, I’m all for players getting what they deserve in their contracts.”
Sign the dotted line
Gordon showed last season just why he’s so highly rated at Everton and why the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle were linked with his services.
They were even willing to shell out astronomical sums of money to sign the 21-year-old but the Toffees managed to keep hold of him.
Gordon, to his credit, never threw a tantrum and just got on with it despite not getting a move to a Champions League side.
However, this season, he’s not been nearly as good enough and it’s time for him to show why the club entrusted him with the number 10.
Lampard clearly backs him and is willing to create a system that gets the best out of him and the onus is now on him to deliver.
Before the World Cup, the Toffees boss will be turning to him to lead the attacking responsibilities and he’s got to show that he can become the player many think he can be.
