Leeds United duo Sonny Perkins and Darko Gyabi get England U19s call up
Leeds United youngsters Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins have been included in England’s under-19s squad for their upcoming fixtures against Montenegro, Georgia and Denmark.
Both players have represented their country at youth level but have never been called up to the under-19 squad before.
The Young Lions are set to play three matches during the international break, as Simon Rusk’s side look to qualify for the under-19 European Championships.
On fire
Perkins has been on fire since the start of the season, scoring six goals in five games for Leeds’ under-21s in PL2. Considering Jesse Marsch’s lack of striking options, it’s a surprise that Perkins hasn’t been on the first-team bench at the very least.
Gyabi has featured once on the bench for Leeds but is yet to make his first team debut after his move from Manchester City in the summer. The international call-up for the pair is a testament to the array of youth talent at Elland Road.

The Whites’ under-21s team has a plethora of options within it and has had plenty of success stories over recent years. Joe Gelhardt’s rise to the first team is the most notable one of late, but the likes of Sam Greenwood and Crysencio Summerville have also seen their youth team efforts rewarded.
The 18-year-old pair of Gyabi and Perkins could well be the next to really make an impact on the Premier League stage at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, Leeds United were wrong to let Liam McCarron go.
