Liverpool youngster Kaide Gordon misses club pre-season tour

Liverpool youngster Kaide Gordon has been omitted from the club’s pre-season tour with the club citing fitness issues after a string of injuries.

The 17-year-old is one of Liverpool’s brightest young talents and is expected to have a big future at the club.

However, a report from the Liverpool Echo has stated that Gordon is one of several young players due to miss the tour in Thailand.

The report said: “A number of injuries curtailed his year last season and it could be that he is still working his way back to fitness and is another that the Reds will not feel any need to rush.

“It will be disappointing with a tour an ideal opportunity to catch the eye once more but Gordon has plenty of admirers and the summer is still young.”

This will not place any doubt on the talent and the future of the 17-year-old winger, who has already shown promise of what he can become in his short stint in the men’s team.

He joined the club in February 2021 from the Derby County academy for a fee of £3m and has looked a promising talent ever since he stepped foot in Merseyside.

The then 16-year-old made his debut on 21 September in a Carabao Cup tie against Norwich and impressed Liverpool fans with his performance on the right-wing, looking bright in several spells during the match.

The teenager also started for the club in the semi-final of the same competition, in a crunch tie against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on 20 January where again, he shone on the right-hand side.

He also made 32 appearances in various youth competitions scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists in all competitions, and hopefully this fitness setback will not faze his progression too heavily.

In other news, former Liverpool midfielder Ben Woodburn has joined Preston North End in a permanent deal.
