Newcastle United in pursuit of Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos - Portuguese journalist
Newcastle are set to bid for 21-year-old Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos, according to SIC Noticias journalist, Pedro Sepulveda.
The forward exploded onto the scene last season scoring seven goals in 29 Liga Portugal games, and has already scored three goals this season for the club.
The Portuguese football expert expects a bid to be made by the Magpies in a few days with Benfica demanding over £25.2million for Ramos.
Ramos to Newcastle?
Ramos would be an interesting signing for Newcastle, who are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer after failing to land now-PSG striker Hugo Ekitike earlier in the window.
The 21-year-old has made 46 appearances for the Portuguese giants, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.

Ramos has also been prolific at youth level registering a goal-scoring rate of a goal every two games for Benfica’s youth teams.
In addition to this he has established himself on the international level with an absurd 14 goals in 18 games for Portugal’s under-21 team.
The youngster would add a new dimension to the Newcastle attack as he differs in play style compared to current strikers, Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.
He possesses intelligent movement on and off the ball with which he can hurt the opposition, but is far from the finished article and would need game time and coaching to develop into a consistent goalscorer at the top level.
In other Newcastle news, the club are planning on keeping Elliott Anderson at the club.
