Newcastle United sign Scottish defender Charlie McArthur
Newcastle have confirmed the signing of young defender Charlie McArthur from Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock.
They made this announcement via their official website and stated that the move is subject to international clearance.
The 17-year-old also captained Scotland at this summer’s Under-17 European Championship in Israel and will move will join the Toons’ academy.
Good move?
McArthur made three appearances as his side won the title last season and that experience at the first-team level is crucial for players at his age.
He was wanted by a host of Premier League clubs but the Magpies have won the race to secure the teenager’s services.

Including first team and academy signings, he has now become the sixth new player Newcastle have signed this summer.
In their first major window after the takeover, fans surely will be expecting some big names to walk through the door in the coming weeks.
He has been lauded as one of the brightest young prospects in Scottish football and his leadership skills are certainly noteworthy as he’s already captained the junior teams.
