Southampton target Liam Delap told he can leave Manchester City on loan - Alex Crook
Manchester City have reportedly told the Southampton linked Liam Delap that he can leave on loan this summer.
According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, the Saints are keen on signing the teenage sensation on a permanent basis.
City have allowed Delap to leave on loan in the past and are thought to be considering a similar approach this summer as well.
Via Twitter, Crook wrote, “Liam Delap has been told he can leave #MCFC on loan. #SaintsFC retain an interest but may prefer to sign a striker on a permanent deal instead.”
Get him in
From a Southampton perspective, it does make sense to bring Delap in, even if it’s on a season long loan.
If the club hierarchy views him as someone who can add value to the first team, then they must bring him in at all costs.
It would save them the burden of a transfer fee as well and put less pressure on the player as he wouldn’t come in on the back of it.
If Manchester City are willing to a deal then they can even include an option to buy for a high fee which will ensure that the Saints pay it if and only he fares well in his first season at St. Mary’s.
However, there are people within the City hierarchy who view him as the long-term number nine or at least being a regular in one of the attacking positions.
It remains to be seen how this entire saga transpires but we would surely like to see him playing regularly in the Premier League.
