View: Aston Villa youngster Jaden Philogene loan spell at Cardiff goes under the radar
Aston Villa fans have a lot of reasons to be positive at the moment with their club finally heading in the right direction in the Premier League table.
Unai Emery has introduced a new lease of life, and with two wins from two, fans have seemingly forgotten about their dire start to the campaign. The Villa Park faithful may well have further reason to be excited, with the club having some exciting young talent coming through their ranks.
Jacob Ramsey and Cameron Archer are the more high-profile players to have emerged in recent years, with the pair both making an impact for the first team.
However, the Villans do have a couple of gems who are now plying their trade in the EFL and will almost certainly be making an impact at Villa Park in the coming years. Tim Iroegbunam has had an impressive loan spell at Queen’s Park Rangers this season and Jaden Philogene has been featuring for Cardiff City.
The latter is a name which has gone somewhat under the radar of Villa fans, but the 20-year-old has been impressive during his second loan spell away from Villa Park.
He has shown his versatility at the Cardiff City Stadium by being able to operate on both flanks for Mark Hudson’s side and has proven to be a good attacking threat.

As per Wyscout, Philogene has an expected goals of 0.32 per 90 minutes in the 2022/23 season and for a player who predominantly operates out wide, this is impressive. He’s a consistent goal threat throughout the 90 minutes.
Furthermore, the youngster isn’t afraid to take players on, with the 20-year-old averaging over six dribbles and three progressive runs per match this season. It appears Villa do have a talent on their hands, and after maybe one more loan spell, he could well be considered a first-team option for Unai Emery.
With his contract coming to a close in the summer of 2024, Aston Villa must ensure they make a decision on Philogene this summer.
