View: Eddie Howe must give Elliot Anderson more Newcastle United minutes after new contract
Newcastle United midfielder Elliot Anderson has signed a new long-term deal with the club.
The 19-year-old is highly rated in the football community and was attracting interest from a host of Championship clubs during the recently concluded transfer window.
However, manager Eddie Howe blocked his departure and he ended up staying at St. James’ Park for another campaign. As per the club’s official site, Anderson has now signed a long-term deal to stay with the Toon Army.
Newcastle have had a difficult time in the past decade or so, where they were relegated not once but twice before a return to top-flight football.
However, things have changed for good for the Magpies, largely because of the change of owners who bought the club from Mike Ashley last year.
The Toon Army are finally going through a more than decent phase where they are making progress, both on and off the field.

When any club is going in the right direction, it is important that they keep hold of their best players and ensure that they keep delivering for the side.
Therefore, ensuring that Anderson stays at St. James’ Park is definitely great news for the fans and they will be hoping to see the midfielder continue producing good performances in the matches to come.
It is also important for Anderson that he is provided with regular minutes so that he can showcase his talent and deliver the goods for the side.
