View: Wolves loanee Fabio Silva rediscovering mojo on loan at Anderlecht
Fabio Silva’s time at Wolverhampton Wanderers was certainly one to forget after his big-money move from Porto in the summer of 2020.
The 20-year-old certainly didn’t adapt to life in the Premier League and was loaned out to Jupiler League side Anderlecht in the summer of 2022.
In what is a crucial stint away from Molineux it appears the youngster has rediscovered the form that saw him gain attention before his move to the Premier League. Silva is currently the third top goalscorer in Belgium in the 2022/23 season and has also displayed some impressive underlying numbers.
It was evident a move away from Wolves was what he needed to find his goalscoring form and with an expected goals of 4.57 (Wyscout) so far in the 2022/23 season, it’s clear he has worked out how to consistent threat, which is something he couldn’t do at Molineux.
Silva seems to have simplified his game a lot more and is looking to take up goalscoring positions more regularly. The 20-year-old currently has the most touches in the opposition area in the whole of Belgium, averaging seven touches per 90 minutes.
Silva was signed to score goals and is most effective when he is in the penalty box looking to capitalise on good quality balls into the box. Erling Haaland has demonstrated his ability to turn very few touches into goals and that’s something Silva must look to emulate.

He still does have a lot of scope for improvement, with his 44 per cent shot accuracy letting him down. However, there should certainly be a lot more positivity surrounding Silva and his return to Molineux next summer.
With him still only 20 there could well be a dramatic improvement over the coming years and potentially a striker to solve Wolves’ woeful goalscoring form.
