West Ham United intersted in Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu - Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United are interested in Feyenoord’s 21-year-old midfielder Orkun Kökçü, as reported by The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reported via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday 21 June, that David Moyes’ side along with many other clubs are exploring a move for the Turkish midfielder.

The 21-year-old has seven goals and nine assists in the Dutch Eredivisie in the 2021/22 campaign.

Exciting signing

A goalscoring 21-year-old midfielder certainly looks like an exciting prospect for David Moyes and West Ham, with departures still expected, a move for the Feyenoord man could make sense.

However, with his contract not expiring till the summer of 2025, any move is unlikely to be cheap for Moyes and the club hierarchy.

However, it is certainly a signing that the Irons should be looking at for the long and short term.

At 21 years old there is still plenty of time for the youngster to develop into an exciting long-term asset for Moyes, who could potentially be sold on for a lot more.

Furthermore, it will add some much-needed youth to West Ham’s ageing side, with plenty of the Hammer’s starting eleven all beyond 30 now.

A move for the in-demand youngster would certainly be a statement of intent from the club.

West Ham fans will be eager for more fresh faces to come through the front door at the London Stadium in what promises to be a busy summer.
