It has also been reported by NottinghamshireLive that the Wales international has opened discussion on extending his stay at the City Ground with contract extension talks beginning soon.

However, Spence’s future is much more up in the air with Forest trying to secure the permanent transfer of the exciting full-back as soon as possible.

He said: “I’m just going to enjoy this moment and live in the present.

“We’ve just got promoted and I want to enjoy it with the fans, team, players, and staff.”

Up-and-coming

Johnson and Spence, both 21-years-old, made 103 appearances between them in all competitions and were standout performers in Steve Cooper’s battle-hardened team.

Spence firstly came into the limelight after a man of the match performance against Arsenal in the FA Cup in January and ended the campaign with an impressive three goals and five assists.

Johnson was also a key man for Forest this season as he racked up a phenomenal tally of 19 goals and nine assists, averaging a goal or assist every 1.8 games.

While being deployed on both wings and in attacking midfield roles, he ended the season Forest’s top scorer and 8th in the Championship top scorer rankings.

The Reds have a fight on their hands to ensure that the talented duo’s futures remain at the City Ground.
