Rangers beat Liverpool in race to sign Aberdeen teenager Lancelot Pollard - report
Rangers have fended off the might of Liverpool and Manchester United to sign Aberdeen teenage starlet Lancelot Pollard, according to the Scottish Sun.
The Bears have been monitoring the youngster for some time, as have the Reds, as he has lit up the Under-18s side at Cormack Park this season for the Dons,
Giovanni van Bronckhorst obviously likes what he sees in Pollard to have pushed for this transfer and to have beaten Premier League opposition of this calibre is a huge feather in the Gers’ cap.
The Light Blues will have to pay a six-figure development fee to their Scottish Premiership rivals as a result of signing the teenager but the exact sum of that fee is as yet unknown and to be determined between the two clubs.
Intent
Pollard is almost certainly not going to feature for van Bronckhorst’s senior side in the 2022-23 season and he could even have to wait another two or three years before he gets to that level but that isn’t what this signing is about.

There were definitely eyes looking at the future as there were at Anfield and Old Trafford too so Rangers are hoping that he will be something of a world-beater once he develops at Auchenhowie and can generate either trophies or a profit for the club, ideally both.
But it isn’t just the signing of a very promising young talent that should excite Bears fans, they’ve just gone toe to toe with two of the world’s best clubs in a transfer war and won, relatively easily.
Winning a domestic transfer battle isn’t all that impressive for Rangers being one of two teams of real quality in the entirety of Scotland but England is a totally different kettle of fish.
In other Rangers news, another teenager is on the radar of the Ibrox club but they again face English competition to prize him away from Cardiff City.
