Rangers news: Alex Lowry heading right to the top after class second-half cameo v Dundee

Rangers might have had the game wrapped up against Dundee by the time Alex Lowry came on with minutes to go, but that didn’t stop the teenager from making a big impact at Dens Park.

The 18-year-old produced a stunning cameo for such a short time as he burst from midfield on more than one occasion to drive his team forward and grab the third goal of three to finish the tie in style.

That driving run right through the middle of the park allowed Lowry to slide the ball to his left where Fashion Sakala duly tucked home but all the credit went to the teenager.

With every game he plays for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team, he gains more and more confidence and he could easily make a claim to start Scottish Premiership games very soon if he keeps producing the magic he has been off the bench.

His debut goal against Stirling Albion was a sign of things to come and providing he gets the right amount of chances at senior level, then there is no reason to suggest why he won’t go on to be a regular at Ibrox and earn a big-money move out of Scotland in a couple of years time.

There will be a lot of eyes on Rangers for the rest of this season with scouts keen to get the lowdown on one of the country’s most hotly-rated talents.

Van Bronckhorst has to start giving him more opportunities in bigger games because he can’t develop fully by only playing in the Scottish Cup.

In other Football Wonderkids news, Leeds’ young talents have already benefitted from Marcelo Bielsa being sacked.
