Southampton set to sign Tottenham youth duo Sam Amo-Ameyaw and Jayden Meghoma - Fabrizio Romano
Southampton are set to complete a double raid of Tottenham by signing England Under-16 talents Sam Amo-Ameyaw and Jayden Meghoma, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Saints have signed several youth talents this summer with Romeo Lavia and Gavin Bazunu joining the south coast club from Manchester City.
Romano reported on Tuesday night (19 July) that Southampton are now set to secure the signature of two more talents from one of the Premier League’s big six, this time Tottenham being raided for their youth talent.
Romano said: “Southampton are set to sign England U16 talents Sam Amo-Ameyaw and Jayden Meghoma from Tottenham.
“Full agreement in place for €1m (£852,000) total fee.”
Youth project at St Mary’s?
Southampton have a clear transfer strategy this summer, focusing on young talents and helping them grow into top players.
They are yet to sign a player over the age of 25 this summer, with three out of their six summer signings being aged 20 or under.
This time, they have acquired two talented teenagers from the North London club, both of which have featured for the England under-16 national team.
Sam Amo-Ameyaw is predominantly a left winger who can also be deployed on the right wing and Jayden Meghoma is a left-back who made two appearances in the under-18 Premier League last season.
Time will tell if Southampton’s new transfer strategy proves to be successful as the players they have brought to the club have been so young and will need time to adapt and grow within the club.
However, the future does look bright for the club and for the two players that will now call St Marys their new home.
In other Southampton news, target Liam Delap has been told he can leave the club on loan.
