Tino Livramento: Southampton’s young superstar one to keep an eye on in near future

By James Evans

After signing from Chelsea last summer, 19-year-old Tino Livramento’s rise to the top is nothing short of inspirational.

With Chelsea snatching Ben Chilwell from Leicester City back in 2020, it meant that Tino’s path to the first team was near impossible.

Last summer, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl opted to sign the youngster. It’s fair to say that the gamble paid off.

Prior to signing with the Saints, Livramento hadn’t made a single Premier League appearance. However, he has taken to the league tremendously well.

The youngster has shown exceptional maturity in his breakthrough season. With 23 appearances in the Premier League so far, he’s continuously impressed Hasenhüttl.

Predominately a full-back, Livramento is a real threat up and down the pitch as he looks to hold down a regular place.

Even though Chelsea has a buy-back clause on the full-back [The Sun], Livramento will believe that he has the capabilities of shining elsewhere.

With Thomas Tuchel struggling with injury problems at the back, the German will be devastated that he didn’t give Livramento a chance.

Predominately a right-back, Tino can also play as a wingback. Throughout the season, Tino has proven his versatility on the Saints side by operating on the left side as well.

Already featuring a couple of times for the England U21 set-up, Tino has every chance of being called up to the senior national side despite their strength in depth at fullback.

With Tino being a key figure in the Saints’ backline this season, the future certainly looks bright for the hot prospect.

In other Football Wonderkids news, the Saints are keen to sign Armando Broja permanently as well as another Chelsea youngster.
