Tyler Dibling will be a Saint for Southampton after hat-trick for U23s

Southampton are well known for bringing through some exceptional players from their academy but the very best of them is only just emerging.

At only 16 years of age, Tyler Dibling is already tearing the Premier League 2, a league for Under-23 sides, to pieces and Ralph Hasnehuttl will adore what he is seeing from him.

He is already an England Under-16 international and his latest eye-catching display for the Saints will have supporters drooling, knowing they have him all to themselves for the moment.

Dibling joined his Southampton teammate on the long trip north to Newcastle to take on the Magpies’ Under-23s at the famous St James’ Park but the stage didn’t faze the 16-year-old.

In a whirlwind first half, the English teen fired in a scarcely believable hat-trick to send Southampton into the half-time break 3-0 to the good.

Five goals and four assists for the Under-18s as well this season will have already put him on the radar of the senior team’s manager but this latest remarkable night has exploded his reputation.

With very little left for Southampton’s senior side to play for, some fans may be asking for Dibling to be given the odd chance to strut his stuff on the big stage and he can do so with no extreme pressure on his shoulders.

It would be an enormous step up for someone who is still studying for his GCSEs but when you have the ability to rock up against players six or seven years older than you and thump a trio past them, his teachers should be able to excuse him every now and then.

In other Southampton news, Hasenhuttl has quite the selection dilemma now after his breakthrough star of this season was stretchered off at the weekend against Brighton at the Amex.
