Marseille want to sign Tottenham Hotspur attacker Bryan Gil on loan - Fabrizio Romano
Marseille reportedly want to sign Tottenham Hotspur attacker Bryan Gil on loan this summer amid his lack of game time in the Premier League.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Ligue 1 side have explored the possibility of signing him with the Spaniard being on their list of targets.
However, it is not advanced as they are waiting to see what Spurs’ terms of the loan deal are before pursuing his services.
Via his personal Twitter account, Romano wrote, “Olympique Marseille have explored potential loan deal for Bryan Gil, he’s in the list – but it’s still not close as depends on conditions of the deal with Spurs.
“No talks for Lucas Torreira as of today – Uruguayan midfielder is expected to leave Arsenal this summer.”
With Ivan Perisic signed and links to Leeds United attacker Raphinha, Gil is unlikely to get much game time under Antonio Conte next season.
The Spaniard is still only 20 and has his entire career ahead of him so it makes sense for him to look for a loan move.
If he impresses in France, the Spurs hierarchy are certainly going to be impressed and the manager will then find a way to integrate him into his first-team plans for next season.
Gil was always viewed as a long-term bet for Spurs so selling him after a bad season does not really make much sense.
The club are willing to be patient with him and that’s good to see as he still is an under-21 player and is pretty good for his age in terms of skill and maturity.
Hopefully, a season at Marseille could help bring the best out of him.
