Teenage striker Will Lankshear confirms move to Tottenham from Sheffield United
Tottenham have cimpleted the signing of Will Lankshear from Sheffield United with the former Arsenal striker announcing his move on social media.
The 17-year-old, who was released by Arsenal in 2021, joins the North London club from Championship club Sheffield United.
The teenager has played in various Sheffield United youth teams including and has also trained with the first-team on several occasions.
He took to his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning (31 August) to share an image of himself signing his Spurs contract and thank the staff at Sheffield United.
Lankshear to Spurs
The signing of Lankshear is an investment into the future and it is not the first time a player has crossed the divide of the North London clubs.
Players like David Bentley, Emmanuel Adebayor and William Gallas have all donned the White of Tottenham and the Red of Arsenal.
Sol Campbell also famously made the switch, infuriating Spurs fans after claiming he would stay at the club, just to join their arch-rivals, become captain and win several trophies.
Lankshear will most likely be looking at Harry Kane and his journey to the top as his early beginnings closely resemble the Tottenham talisman’s.
Like Lankshear, Kane also played for Arsenal as a youngster and later joined Spurs where he has become arguably their greatest ever player.
If Lankshear can have half the success Kane has had in North London and make the Gunners regret releasing him last season, Spurs would have worked their magic again.
In other Tottenham news, Dane Scarlett has scored his first senior goal at Portsmouth.
