View: Tottenham boss Antonio Conte must unleash prized wonder Pape Matar Sarr
Tottenham wonderkid Pape Matar Sarr has a big future ahead of him and it’s about time Spurs head coach Antonio Conte unleashed him on the Premier League.
The 20-year-old is yet to make his debut for Tottenham since joining the club from Ligue 1 outfit Metz in the summer of 2021.
Conte recently described the youngster as a “really important prospect” further highlighting the midfielder’s apparent abundance of talent.
“I have great respect for all my players and I think this respect, they feel this respect because in every training session my attention is the same for every single player,” said Conte as quoted by Football London.
“For Harry Kane but also if the player is [Harvey] White or Pape Sarr. We are talking about two really important prospects.”
It’s interesting that the Tottenham head coach would mention Pape Sarr out of the blue and maybe indicates that the player is in his thinking for a potential debut.
Conte must put these thoughts into action, Spurs can reap the rewards of giving the 20-year-old an early Premier League birth.
Sarr has a massive future ahead of him and recruiting talents like the youngster is the best way for Spurs to close the gap to Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Tottenham can’t go head-to-head with the Premier League juggernauts in the transfer window so they have to look for unknown talents in Europe’s top five leagues.
The midfielder represents this type of talent down to a tee and now needs to be given Premier League game time by Conte to thrive and progress.
Unleashing unknown talents in the English top flight is always a gamble but one Conte must take with Sarr, he has the ability to handle a maiden first-team call up.
The Frenchman’s style of play is similar to that of compatriots Paul Pogba and Aurélien Tchouaméni, he’s calm, classy and has passing range midfielders could only dream of having.
Unearthing the next big Premier League star is always a challenge, but Conte might just have one in his team, Sarr is a gem worth keeping your eye on.
