Tottenham striker Kion Etete on radar of Portsmouth and Millwall - report
Tottenham Hotspur striker Kion Etete is attracting interest from a number of EFL clubs with Portsmouth and Millwall named, according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.
The 20-year-old had two loan spells during the 2021-22 season with the first half of the year being spent in League Two with Northampton Town before moving to Cheltenham Town in League One from January onwards.
The Derby-born Spurs youngster wasn’t as prolific as expected though with just nine goals scored over both loan spells but his performances were still catching the eye regardless.
Crook reported, via his personal Twitter account, that a number of Championship clubs were expressing interest in Etete but only Millwall were named along with League One outfit Portsmouth.
What he might lack in goals he makes up for in bulk, standing at six-foot, three inches tall and able to cause all kinds of problems in the opposition defence which makes him the perfect target man at any level, explaining the second tier interest in him despite his less than remarkable goal-scoring record.

Being as tall as he is, Etete doesn’t have the same pressure on him to be the 20 or 30-goal striker that fires a team to promotion as he can use his stature to create opportunities for his fellow teammates.
He would work perfectly in a two-man strike partnership in the age-old classic “big man, little man” combination but he could equally lead the line by himself in a 4-3-3 type system as long as the midfield and wingers are able to get close to him for any knockdowns.
His future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium may well all come down to how he does on his next loan spell away from the club and if he is able to add goals to his game, he could be a player who takes over from Harry Kane should he ever leave.
Etete is battling with the likes of Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott for the honour though and the latter had a much better season in League One on loan at Milton Keynes Dons.
In other Tottenham news, Fulham winger Oliver O’Neill is of interest to Antonio Conte but they face competition from West Ham.
