Tottenham youngster Dane Scarlett scores first senior goal on loan at Portsmouth
Tottenham wonderkid Dane Scarlett has scored his first senior goal in Portsmouth’s 1-0 win away at Port Vale on 27 August.
Pompey, who are currently top of League One and yet to lose a game in their opening six fixtures, defeated Darrell Clarke’s team to win their fourth game of the season.
However, it was the 18-year-old who grabbed the headlines on the day, scoring the winner for his team and netting his first goal in senior football.
Off the mark!
The goal, which helped is a huge moment for the teenager and hopefully a sign of things to come for the promising striker.
Scarlett, who came through the youth ranks at Tottenham, was prolific for the club at youth level, scoring 27 goals in 37 games for the club’s youth teams.
He also helped the England under-19s win the European Championships in Slovakia this summer, starting up front for the Young Lions.
After 10 appearances for the Tottenham first team, the first being a substitute appearance in the Europa League in 2020, it was acknowledged that he would need a loan to gain valuable first-team experience.
He joined Portsmouth earlier in the window and has had a great start to life on the south coast, impressing the Pompey faithful with his flair and energy upfront.
He has made eight appearances for the league one side, but now he has opened his account for the club, he will be hoping to continue his goalscoring run as the season progresses.
In other Tottenham news, Bryan Gil is close to completing a loan move back to Spain.
