View: Tottenham talent Bryan Gil may still have Spurs future

Tottenham midfielder Bryan Gil may still have a future at the club after Antonio Conte’s recent comments regarding his midfield.

Gil, 21, joined the North London club in the summer of 2021 from Sevilla but has so far failed to adapt to life in England.

He was sent out on loan to Valencia during the second half of last season, and it looked likely that he would be loaned out by the club again, but if Conte’s comments are anything to go by, he may have a part to play this season.

Conte said: “I think as a midfield, we improved with Bissouma and with Winks also and then with Lenglet behind.

“I think we sign players with common sense to find players with the right characteristics to help us to improve the quality and to have players reliable and ready to have a good impact.

“Not an impact so and so if I have to call them to play.”

Fresh start for Gil?

This could be good news for the youngster who has so far been unsuccessful in his attempts to kick-start his Tottenham career.

When he first signed for the club, there were question marks about the fee the Lilywhites paid for him as he had only made 21 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and two assists during that time.

However, the club decided they had seen enough from his two loan spells at CD Leganes and Eibar, where he made 41 appearances for across the loans, scoring five goals and providing five assists.

The former Sevilla man, who has only made 20 appearances for Tottenham, is an undoubted talent and in 2020 he even became the first player born in the 21st century to score a goal in LaLiga.

The Spain international is a traditional winger, known for his close ball control, energy up and down the flanks, and creative ability with his delicate left foot doing the most of the damage.

Spurs could do with an injection of additional creativity from the wide positions, and if he can impress Conte, there is a chance for him to make a name for himself in this stacked Tottenham team.

In other Tottenham news, youngster Dane Scarlett could use his loan to Portsmouth to launch his career.
