Bruno Lage makes contact with Goncalo Ramos as Wolves hunt new transfer - report

Wolves have joined the list of Premier League clubs that are interested in signing Portuguese under-21 striker Goncalo Ramos, according to Pedro Sepulveda.

Premier League clubs have been circling the 21-year-old with the likes of Newcastle and West Ham all reportedly interested in signing the Benfica forward.

However, Sepulveda has now reported that Wolves have now also joined the race for Ramos’s signature, with manager Bruno Lage said to have already made contact.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News on 16 August at 12:24, Sepulveda said: “Bruno Lage already made a call to Goncalo Ramos to find out if he wants to join Wolverhampton.

“Lage has told Ramos he wants him.”

A move for Ramos would make a lot of sense for the Wanderers, who are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements.

They loaned out Portuguese youngster Fabio Silva to Anderlecht earlier in the window after the teenager failed to adapt to life in England.

The 31-year-old is the club’s main striking option and the Wanderers have missed his consistent supply of goals ever since he suffered a serious head injury against Arsenal in 2020.

In Ramos, they have a young striker who could possibly take away some of the goal-scoring burden that currently solely lies on Jimenez.

The striker, who has scored an absurd 14 goals in 18 games for the Portuguese under-21 team, is one of the country’s most promising forwards.

Ramos has consistently found the net for Benfica having scored 27 goals in 53 games for Benfica’s youth teams while scoring 18 goals in 63 games for the first-team.

If Wolves can beat their Premier League rivals to the signing of Ramos, it would be a real coup for the club and another exciting Portuguese player to add to their ranks.

In other Wolves news, the club must make keeping Morgan Gibbs-White their priority.
